Legislative Wrap-up: The Texas High-Speed Train is Gaining Momentum

Legislative Updates

First and foremost, THANK YOU! Because tens of thousands of you sent letters and emails, posted to social media and called your legislators – or traveled to Austin – to voice your support, the Texas High-Speed Train has more momentum than ever.  This was evident as legislators once again ensured the project can continue to move forward with no onerous or ambiguous regulation or legislation impacting the project.

By lending your voice of support, you have helped remind elected officials that this life-saving, environmentally friendly, and investor-led project is GOOD FOR TEXAS!

This project is supported by the vast majority of Texans, and that enthusiasm is clearly building. There is simply no denying that the demand for more and better transportation alternatives between Houston, the Brazos Valley and North Texas is strong and growing, all while our population continues to boom. In fact, the TAMU Real Estate Center recently reported that both Houston and North Texas have added more than one million new residents each between April 2010 and July 2018. Lawmakers recognize that as Texas experiences phenomenal growth, more transportation options are needed to keep the state economically competitive and moving forward. Texans and policy makers want this safe and reliable transportation option built, and the private sector is stepping up to do so.

We look forward to our continued work with all of the federal and state government and law enforcement agencies as the system’s federal permits continue to be reviewed.
